I am an Open Source Consultant at One Point with a background in Photography & Printing. My interests consist of:
  • Understanding human (and other) Psychology and utilizing this understanding for designing effective philosophies and strategies for curing social evils;
  • Finding technically sound solutions to non-technical problems and vice-versa;
  • Developing the art of loving "all" "equally"

This domain

Some people who visited my blog, asked me what sis.net.in was. This domain was originally a placeholder for my proprietary firm’s website. SIS stands for Smile India Solutions, which is a proprietary firm that I operated a few years ago. Now, defunct, I decided to use the same domain for my personal weblog.

Professional

I am an Open Source Consultant, currently employed at One Point. One Point provides advisory and implementation services for Enterprise Architecture, Systems Integration, Software Engineering, Open Source, Migration Services, Programme Management. One Point’s main focus is on Enterprise Content Management, Messaging and Collaboration.

Being a small team, at One Point, all of us multi-task and explore way beyond our designated activities. This allows us to bring very high-level of creativity, collaboration and synergy within the projects that we undertake.

You can find more about my professional background on my linked-in profile.

What I do as an Open Source Consultant?

Some people have been keen to understand what exactly I do as an Open Source Consultant, which, apparently, isn’t a very common designation. As an Open Source Consultant my main responsibilities include keeping an eye on different Open Source Software that emerge in the market, evaluating them for their maturity using one or more maturity assessment models, understanding the full-range of capabilities of different enterprise-grade OSS, understanding the costs and technical aspects, understanding how a specific OSS can be integrated with other software (Proprietary or Open Source), understanding licensing and implications of different Open Source licenses, etc.

Additionally, I also do some programming, web development, solution design, systems administration and marketing for my company. More recently, I have also been focusing on the use of Social Media within organisations in a manner such as to be able to help them improve their internal collaboration, and thus, their organisational capabilities.

Personal

I love reading, technology (not gadgets), food, movies, and sciences pertaining to spiritual upbringing (not in any particular order).

I am married and have a daughter, whom we named Ziya. Co-incidentally, Ziya was born while I was still working with Zimbra, just about the time Yahoo! acquired Zimbra; and, some of my friends believe, I picked up two initials from both companies.

I am not much of a social person when not on Internet so I maintain a calendar of my contacts’ birthdays and anniversaries just to be in touch with them on their special occasions.

On Internet, you can sync with me on Facebook.
