@Dark Demon, Thank-you for commenting! I have this issue on a Mac and also on Linux where I don't have Winamp. Irrespective of the client and the Operating System, this persists.

One of my friends had the same problem. I dug into it and found out that it was Winamp player which was causing all these problems.
Do you guys have Winamp installed on you systems. In Winamp there is a plug in for showing the current playing song title as your status in yahoo messenger.
You can solve this problem by going to Winamp preferences –> plugins then find the name of .dll file used for yahoo messenger…. then go to C:program filewinampplugins and delete those dll files…in my case there were 2. (take a back up before deleting if u wanna play safe).
Restart your messenger…
You are done.

Petronel, thank-you for commenting! I am somewhat of the opinion that this is not related to the client that you use for connecting. Rather, it is a server-side issue at Yahoo!. I am thinking so because I have tried with different clients on different Operating Systems with no improvement. I also do not think that Yahoo! has a solution to this, because if you notice my other post, I have pasted the entire conversation with Yahoo! Messenger support, which has spanned over 2.5 months now and they are totally stumped. Anyways, I have now lost the hopes for this to work.

I have the same problem ! With a seoncary YIM account I see the presence corectly shown on a page… so maybe some files inside the program files/ yahoo…. profiles are corrupted ! But which one ? maybe if you find them please notify me at malutanpetronel @ yahoo.com
